| Sumo fan because... | I was in Sapporo studying Japanese in 1991 when
news suddenly broke of some big shot sumo guy ending his carreer. It was
of course the great Chiyonofuji. But after that it was Konishiki's
enormous girth that started me watching sumo. By September '91, I was
totally hooked, and since I could see no sumo at all for two years, I
instead read all I could on the sport. Thankfully, I now get tapes of
the basho from my father-in-law. Living in Sweden, Internet was also a
big break-through in following sumo. I now run my own home page about
sumo in Swedish (http://home.swipnet.se/swedsumo). My two children are
named after great yokozuna, my son Takano after Takanohana (my wife's
favorite) and my daughter Fujiko after Chiyonofuji.
