As I already observed, he has become a wakaimono-gashira. He'll never have a
toshiyori share. After the retirement of Sagahikari, they had to go through
the Nagoya basho without the eighth wakaimonogashira, while Z was trying to
make up his mind (as I heard it). He was, however, in place for the
Aki-basho, and I got a picture of him, still with his chonmage. It will
either be published in a magazine or not published at all.

There is a large basement hall, complete with reception, cloakroom, toilets
etc., under the front seats. It is regularly used for the supporters'
parties after a big dampatsu-shiki on the dohyo, such as Asahiyutaka and
Toyonoumi just had this last weekend. When men do not qualify for the whole
nine yards in the Kokugikan, they can still rent the hall downstairs. The
haircutting is then done down there, on a dais, just as it would be in a
hotel, followed by the party. I've been to both kinds of event there, a
number of times.

Sorry, this is all I can manage. This was my one free evening and my next
column is approaching the real deadline, as opposed to the fake deadline
that the editor tries to push onto the newcomers.
