Re: Daishoho
As most other cancer cases in Japan, he was told that his condition was another
chronic pancreatic ailment for a while until Daishoho strongly insisted his
doctor to let him know the real problem. That means that he did not get the
most aggressive treatment to cure the cancer. If he got chemotherapy, he would
have known what the problem he had without even asking his doctor.
I shared the birth place with Daishoho and he is a rare breed of Sekitori from
Sapporo. I wanted to see him to be successful in being Oyakata, but it seems it
does not happen. One of my nephew went the same high school with Daishoho and
it was painful to see him suffered the elbow injury. It was also extremely
painful to see him so skinny when he announced his retirement.
He was willing to continue if there is a possibility of regaining the health,
but as soon as he heard the true problem, he decided to quit and concentrate on
the treatment. But I'm afraid that it was too late for him.
I don't like the way Japanese people not telling the truth in having cancer.
And I hope they change the traditional practice as soon as possible and fight
for their life aggressively and positively.
