He might make the top 10-list, but he will probably not break the record of 6 basho, as Masumi Abe pointed out.

This is a list of sub-2years risers. (I think it's after 1958):
"Basho" is the number of basho spent from Maezumo until entering Juryo.
Obs: The "Age" is the age of the rikishi when starting his first basho as sekitori. It's nothing "official" about it, but rather a reference.

Rikishi Basho Juryo entry Highest rank Age
Itai 6 1979.09 K 23y 6m
Asahifuji 7 1982.03 Y 21y 8m
Konishiki 8 1983.11 O 19y 11m
Tochiazuma 9 1996.05 S 19y 6m
Takanohana 10 1989.11 Y 17y 3m
Musashimaru 11 1991.07 Y 20y 3m
Wakanohana 12 1990.03 Y 19y 2m
Akebono 12 1990.03 Y 20y 8m

He won't catch Itai, but with two good tournaments (one 7-0 and one 6-1(or possibly 5-2)) he'll be in Juryo with only 7 basho in the lower divisions. And that will be at an age of 19y 6m.
IF that happens, he can set the record for least tournaments to Makunouchi (post 1958)that is now held by Itai, Konishiki and Tochiazuma with 12 basho.
But I'm afraid that's a little early to talk about...

If the Kyokai stopped inviting Hawaiians because they made the top too fast, I suppose we'll soon have a ban on mongolians too ;)
