FOLLOW-UP: Sumo Fantasy Game Rules & Instructions (WITH BANZUKE)
Someone commented on the game, regarding a feature I forgot to mention.
Your stable is like a real stable, it continues from basho to basho. You
will be stuck with the sumotori you have selected from now on. So if anyone
is having second thoughts about their selections, you have until Sunday to
change it, then it is final.
The beauty here is that you don't have to worry about your entries, either
day to day or basho to basho, you have a lifetime entry. You just visit my
web site to see where you are in the standings.
Of course there must be a way to recruit new sumotori, especially if one of
your sumotori retires.
I am open to suggestions on what to do about recruitment and perhaps we can
even allow opening trading of sumotori between stables, just like fantasty
football.
A non-fatasty sumo note, I went to the golf driving range with ex-sekitori
Yamato the other night, turns out there is one in our neighborhood. It was
kind of funny watching him whack a golf ball, unreal, the guy can't do a
full swing, it is mostly wrist power and BOOM the little golf rockets out
onto the driving range. It was quite a treat to see.
The rest of this message is a duplicate of my last message on this manner.
Pick one sanyaku (yokozuna, ozeki, sekiwake, or komusubi), two maegashira,
two juryo sekitori, and one makushita to form your heya. You will be the
oyakata. You will provide me with your picks and your oyakata shikona (via
email - dakinesumo@hotmail.com). In the case where many people pick the
same sekitori, there will NOT be a drawing for that sekitori, so many people
can have the same sekitori in their stable (Robanoumi suggestion).
Once the heya have been built, the fun begins during the basho, the scoring
will strictly be based on the total number of wins for your stable. Extra
points will be reward for prizes and of course the yusho, and if an juryo
sekitori beats a makuuchi sekitori, if a maegashira beats a sanyaku, if a
makushita wrester beats a juryo sekitori, kinboshi and ginboshi (Robert
Wilson suggestion). For the tie-breakers, you will be asked to pick the
yusho winners (makuuchi, juryo, & makushita) and the runner-ups (makuuchi,
juryo, & makushita).
Naturally I will award a prize to the heya with the most wins.
Some folks are submitting tie-breakers, which are cool, but in case of a
tie, both heya win a prize.
I will post the standings on my personal site, http://surf.to/kawika
The best place to look at the banzuke, that includes the makushita ranks, in
English, is here, http://www.accesscom.com/~abe/sumo.html
Also, for those of you who can get at the internet, AKA email-only types,
here is the banzuke.
