Maybe they were not inclined to celebrate because they both lost face in
the Kyokai elections last year. In any case, renting the Kokugikan must be
extremely expensive, even for a short time.

Was it really?  Certainly the former Kasugano did it on the dohyo; I
remember that Dewanoumi (now Sakaigawa) was one of his attendants.
