Two comments/questions about the top knots:
(1) Thought it was very lucky for Kotonishiki to get away with the grab to
the top knot. The chief judge's explanation was that he didn't hold on to
it for too long or until the last, but they were never that merciful to the
now retired Asahiyutaka. It was a clear hold of the mage, and even the NHK
commentators remarked that this was rare to still get a way whether the
mage grab was intended or not.
(2) With the impressive and speedy rise of Miyabayama to maukuuchi
guaranteed next basho, and even with another 2 months seeing that his hair
won't be long enough to make a top knot, just wondering how long it has
been since a Shin-Nyumaku has debuted without mage??
Comment on yusho:
Sensational final day thanks to Chiyotaikai, who now looks guaranteed to be
promoted to Ozeki and I'm sure the sceptics will not call this another
basho that "didn't happen", due to the yusho not going to one of the
Futagoyama lads ;-). Could be said though that the Kyokai needs a new hero
and so the Ozeki-hood was guaranteed no matter what the yusho result was.
Let the speculation continue ;-).
Yoroshiku, Pete.
