amateur-sumo
Dear Amateur-Sumo-Fans.
I've visited a training session at January, 19th, with Joerg Bruemmer
(1st place heavyweight, 7th world championships 1998), Torsten Scheibler
(3rd place open, same event) and some other sumotori, nice guys, really
interesting. I've met a friend from former judo-times who now tries out
sumo. They did some shiko, technical warmups and showed some fights. The
training was open for press-people, (some from newspapers and TV
attended) and we got informations about ama-sumo in Germany.
I was there with a friend from TV: "Offener Kanal", you can get it only
in and around Berlin with cable TV, and we will show some minutes of
this training tomorrow, February 3rd, at 4 o'clock p.m. (evening). We
will also have two guests in the studio from ama-sumo and talk about
ama- and pro-sumo for about 20 minutes or so. The show is named "Mikado
- Japan in Deutschland", for those who are interested.
The next thing I'd like to tell you was already published in the ML, but
some time ago. At February, 20th, there will be the 3rd German Open
championships in Berlin. There will compete around ten countries or so
and I think the Czech sumo-team with Shiroi Kuma will also be there ???
I will be there to see this event and it would be nice to meet some of
you cyber-rikishi. If you're there too and have some time please mail me
privately. Tickets you can get from KIK (the sports-school where the
training session has been), Tel.: 030-5428116 / Fax.: 030-5424134.
O.K., hoping to see you,
Greetings from Zabinishiki and Rikikoiwa
