If you are interested in sumo related old books you may want to try a
bookshop called Asakusa Okuramae Shobo just off Toei Asakusa-Sen line
(Asakusa Subway Line) Kuramae Station (Tel: 03-3866-5894).

I know many people visit Edo Tokyo Museum next to the Kokugikan - it's
relatively new and well worth the time but tend to to miss a couple of
interesting shops at Kiyosumi and Keiyou Streets.

One is called "Lion-Dou" and it's a King Sized clothing store where
you could (well at least you used to be able) to buy a pair of
Konishiki undie. You can also find out what sizes your favorite
rikishi wears.
For those of us Hikari Ishida fans the place has a special
significance as this is the store she worked on NHK Morning drama
"Hirari".

Another one of interest may be "Okadaya Hakimono ten" and they have
mega sizes "zouri" and thongs.

Both are often frequented by rikishis and you may encounter a few
while you are visiting the store.

Of course around JR Ryogoku station you will find several stables and
chanko nabe restaurants as well so personally even there is no sumo at
the Kokugikan I can spend a whole day wandering around.
