Shiroikuma update!

I had the pleasure of meeting Shiroikuma at Michinoku beya last Tuesday. I
went to watch him at asageiko. It was quite the workout with the Czech team
and the young guys from Michinoku. Hoshitango and Hoshiandesu looked on and
encouraged/coached everyone. Michinoku oyakata (former Kirishima) was also
around for much of the asageiko. There was also a tv crew that was taping
and doing interviews. Hopefully we'll be able to see an interview with
Shiroikuma on tv soon.
While standing in the front of Michinoku Beya afterwards we had a few words
with Doreen Simmons as she was rushing off to work. There's no rest for that
woman!
Shiroikuma seems to be having some leg problems. He said that he broke his
ankle recently and that he was still recovering from it. The Czech team
looked very strong during the keiko so I'm looking forward to hearing how
they did. He invited me to go on Saturday and sit with them but some things
came up and I wasn't able to go. :-(
I haven't been able to find any serious coverage of it on tv, but to be
honest I haven't had the time to check. There was only a small bit in the
Japan Times this morning but nothing about our beloved Czech team.
