Yokozuna injuries

Yokozuna Takanohana has been staying away from "keiko" (not his wife
:-) for the last several days.  He has been experiencing some troubles
ever since he injured his right toe during the Kyushu Basho but now he
is experiencing tingling sensation in his legs.  His Oyakata also
recommended a bit of rest so as not to aggrevate it further.  It does
not look too serious as he has not gone back to see a certain mind
control specialist/trainer back in Tokyo.

More serious case is Akebono.  His low back injury which prevented him
from the Kyushu is now diagnosed as a "hernia". He has been prescribed
"total rest" for three weeks and chances are he may not make the
January either.      

His Yokozuna reign of 35 bashos is the sixth longest in sumo history
but now I wonder how long injury ridden Akebono can continue. His last
yusho was at the summer of '97 and I really miss his presence on the
dohyo especially when I think about those classic Senshuraku matches
between Takanohana and him.
