Musashimaru a flop? Yusho in January wasn't it? Akebono a flop? The
only thing wrong with Akebono is that he isn't Takanohana. (As I
recall that 13 match winning streak in March while Waka was getting
the most absured yusho of the year with Un-Ozekilike Sumo). The only
thing wrong with Takanohana is that he wins so much people take it for
granted and then overreact when he doesn't. Barring injury he is
still the yusho favorite going in every basho. As for
Takanonami...the greatest beneficiary of the Futagoyama factor who may
be starting to slide a bit...won't exactly bring a tear to my eyes.

As for Waka being rikishi of the year (whatever that is)...Waka isn't
even the rikishi of the moment.

Kotonishiki's yusho may have been the most thrilling for me personally
in the past 4 or 5 years. Lightening has struck twice. I'm hoping he
can pull off a near yusho in January...and maybe just maybe reach
Ozeki rank before he hangs up the mawashi.
