Re: Konishiki name (corr)
If Sumo Kyokai and/or Takasago-beya does not allow "OUR" Konishiki to use
Konishiki name, my suggestion to him is to make his own Konishiki name with his
own combination of kanji characters.
For example, since he loves kids and kids love him, he could use kanji
character "ko" from kodomo or children.
Another idea is to change his name Konishiki to Gonishiki, the abbreviation of
"Go! Konishiki" with the kanji character for "great," the same kanji for
Australian, also.
If you can read Japanese characters,
The first one with kanji "children" will be:
子錦
And Gonishiki will be:
豪錦
We could come up with many other Konishiki. Such as "foreign" Nishiki with:
胡錦
The beauty of Japanese writing is the flexibility of making many homophones.
And the Sumo Kyokai and Takasago-beya's claim of shikona Konishiki is the
combination of the specific kanji characters. As long as Konishiki avoids using
that specific characters, he could keep using Konishiki name.
Needless to say that the best solution for Konishiki and his fans are for
Konishiki to keep using the kanji combination he has been using as an active
rikishi, though.
