Re: Sumo trading cards question

The smiling rikishi entitles you to enter into a drawing for additional prizes. You will notice that the back of the card has spaces for name/address/ etc.

There is a time limit on the drawing. Currently, only "smiling" rikishi from the 98 Nishi Ozumo cards can be entered into the drawing. Drawings are / were held on 7-25, 9-25, and 11-25. The 11-25 is the last drawing, so no longer possible to enter after that.

If you can't read the Japanese, the 98 Nishi cards have just a smiling face surrounded by 9 stars w/ greenish blue printing.

The 98 Highashi cartoon cards were red in color. The 97 Ozumo cartoon cards were grey in color. Both sets featured a full-figure of a rikishi (not just the head).
