Any talk of fastest rise must include Musashimaru (who, of course, is my
favorite rikishi). Musashimaru was the quickest from Shin-Juryo to Ozeki I
believe, and would have pressed Konishiki's record for fastest rise from
Maezumo to Maegashira (and Ozeki) if not for his injury in the first basho
when he was gunning for Juryo promotion (which, by-the-way, is the only
make-koshi in his career--he must have the record for most consecutive
kachi-koshi in Makuuchi by now!).
Can you guess that I'm a fan of Musashimaru? ;-)
