RE: yusho + runner-up = yokozuna
Since the flap concerning Konishiki's non-promotion after 2 wins in 3
basho, the Sumo committee has had to stick closer to the guideline of 2
consecutive yusho and less toward "a record of comparable worth."
Akebono got his 2 in a row and Takanohana won 6 yusho before he had 2
consecutive and was finally promoted. Takanonami only has two yusho,
the most recent with Akebono out of the tournament. If he doesn't win
in January, he shouldn't be yokozuna.
