Re: yusho + runner-up = yokozuna
Onokuni was promoted to Yokozuna by achieving runner-up in two yusho (12-3
and 13-2). He won the yusho with a 15-0 record PRIOR to the FIRST runner-up
yusho mentioned above which may or may not have had something to do with the
promotion.
Hokutoumi won the yusho (12-3) and was promoted following the next yusho in
which he was a runner-up (13-2).
There are several other cases in which an Ozeki won the yusho, followed by a
runner-up, and then was promoted, (and vice versa; jun-yusho followed by
yusho) but those are just the two most recent.
