Sumo Games

I have the "Sumo Fighter" for  Game Boy.  It's sort of a Super Mario and
eventually, after overcoming many obstacles, the "fighter" goes into a temple,
a dohyo, etc., and fights another person.  However, even though the
instructions are in my native language (English), I can't seem to get into an
area where there is contact with another character.  

I think I purchased the game about eight years ago here in New York City.
