[Sumo Utilities :)] Reading and writing Japanese with Windows
Hi,
In case, like me, you couldn't do much with Abe-san's hint
that "Sanoyama" is "ç*ÉméR", maybe you would be interested in
"JWP". It's a Japanese word processor for Windows. You can
get it at the ftp site-
kilroy.Jpl.Nasa.Gov/pub/misc/jwp-1.3 (no "ftp." in front of that)
or with your browser-
ftp://kilroy.Jpl.Nasa.Gov/pub/misc/jwp-1.3/
as well as other sites.
There are more than a dozen files that you will need to download
and unzip. It's pretty big- like ~17MB. Installation instructions
are at-
http://qlink.queensu.ca/~3srf/jwp-port/jwp131.html
It works great. You can copy and paste any EUC or JIS encoded
text, and it will decode it. There's even a huge dictionary to
help translate it for you. It will also translate English into
Japanese (fairly accurately, I'm told :).
Just thought this might be of interest to those who didn't know
about it, even though it's not really about sumo :)
Thanks,
Dale
