Kirishima : news

Good news :  Kirishima is actually building up his own heya; a six 
stories high building just near the Kokugikan (it will be the closest to
the Kokugikan of all existing heyas).  A most convenient place when you 
judge by the distance he'll have to walk every day, but after all not so
convenient when you think of all the people who'll be going to bother 
him on their way to the Kokugikan.

  The word progresses quickly and Kirishima hopes to open it for the 
beginning of next year.  He looks really happy about it, though seems 
extremely busy bringing everything together (his telephone rings every 
few minutes !)

   I happened to know incidentally that he is still suffering from the 
injury of his right elbow that he caught some five years ago (when he 
was twisted the elbow backwards) and understand now all what this injury 
meant (as he used to relieve for a great part on his right arm to do his 
sumo).  And this especially now, at a time where most rikishi seem 
injured and where everybody seems conscious about the weight of such 
injuries.

    I remain just impressed with all the extremes you can find in sumo.
Kirishima, in spite of his rough voice, is extremely gentle and 
soft-hearted :  his little daughter told me that he even feels sorry to 
hurt a fly;  when there is a fly disturbing him, he uses to catch it 
delicately in his hands and put it out of the window.  Here the most 
difficult remains to catch the fly alive without using insecticide, a 
question of skill ! :)

    I added some photos (as attached file) in the newsgroup
rec.sport.sumo (in gif and and in heavier psd format), for people who'd 
like to see how Kirishima looks like now.
