Lists

What is the necessity of a list of members on the sumo list?
Personally I'm on the list for information on sumo, both past and
present. If I see something in an email on the sumo list that I would
like more information on I will email that member and ask. If they
answer fine and if not that's their choice. Who really cares
if my name is Dayle, I'm 53 live in California and my field of
endeavor is bilogical anthropology. What does that have to do with
sumo?

I don't know Mr. Aragon, but as an existentialistic thinker I do
believe in his having the freedom and responsibility to follow his
own agenda. And if there are individuals on the list who want to be
included on a list of members it is their choice.

Since Mr. Aragon's appearance on the sumo list he has suggested
changes and initiated them i.e.; the personal information list and
changing to an MS Excel format on Basho results. There's nothing
wrong with trying to make improvements, but I for one think we as
members of the sumo list are starting to lose the real purpose of the
list. That being to further our knowledge and enjoyment of the sport
of sumo. When the subject of emails to the sumo list is directed
towards what kind of form the results are displayed in and personal
information on members we're getting away from the sport itself.

Let's get back to sumo for sumo lovers. Or would you prefer I do an
anthropological analysis on sumo's cultural and evolutionary affect
on Japanese society and email my findings daily to the sumo list? I
think not.

Sorry for getting on my soap box.
