Re: Member Countries/Member List
Some thoughts:
-1-
I thought it was pretty interesting to read the list of all countries the
members of this list belong to. However, as other ML members have pointed
out, it's not really correct. Members may live in other countries, and the
times are not right. Most, if not all, of Europe now have daylight saving
time, which makes the "basho times" different.

Putting together the members list is perhaps not that important. It may be
interesting to read, but you can still enjoy IRC without having all stats of
people you may meet. David, you don't have to report the number of people
who've sent in their stats so far, and how you think everyone should send in
their, too. Let people send in their stats if they want to. Don't rush them.
And Chewie's got a point. Putting all this info on a web page is probably
not a very good idea. Especially not people's age. There's lot of weird
people out there, y'know.
-3-
Regardless of what you think about the member list and so on, do try IRC and
visit channel #sumo. I've tried it a couple of times and talked to David and
other ML members. It works fine, and it's fun and interesting. David's done
a good job in finding a peaceful, secluded part of the Internet where we can
meet. David's put some IRC info on his web page, and I may do a page with
some info on it too. Get some software and connect to, for example,
studs.sci.kun.nl or eagle.visi.com. I hope some of us can meet and talk live
during the next basho.
