Re: Sumo list members (non sumo)

Unless you consistently use pseudonyms, anonymous remailers, etc.,
there is not much privacy on the Net. Anyone can send a 'who sumo'
command to majordomo@statgen.ncsu.edu and get the email addresses
of all subscribers. I don't know whether this listserv is configured
to permit 'secret' members, but there seem to be none.
Typing your email address into a search engine yields many references
to your real name (which you also use when posting), and an Alta
Vista search for your name shows dozens of hits, including geographical
data and even a wedding picture with which to estimate your age.
I believe that the situation is similar for the great majority of
subscribers to 'sumo'.
Nobody is asking for your home address, telephone number, or other
sensitive data. It would just be nice to have a statistical overview
of the group, and also have some idea of what sort of person is
posting.
