shikona
With all this talk about shikona, I decided I should have one: Ojitako. I
think this means grandfather octopus. I sometimes swim up under my
grandaughter and grab her by the leg amidst great mock horror about O Tako,
the big octopus.
My wife and I got interested in sumo when our kids, then living in
Hiroshima, sent us sumo videos. We new nothing of the rules, understood not
a word, but were soon hooked. Those were the days of Chiyanofuji and
Hokotumi. We still follow by way of this news group and Sumo World, but it
is not the same as seeing the matches.
I hope the kanji for Ojitako are pretty and have no offensive connotation.
Incidentally, the discussion of shikona has been a pure delight. Keep it up.
