Hoshitori Shikona



Uraminotaki is derived from the famous travel diary called "Oku no hoso
michi" (The Narrow Road to the Far North) written by the poet Basho. It
literally means "the waterfall one can view from behind." Basho on his
travels came across a waterfall, which by virtue of an accessable cavern
behind the screen of falling water, was given this name.  A play on words
with "urami" changing the meaning to "waterfall of resentment.

One can imagine sitting behind the roaring silence of the waterfall,
contemplating on those niggling regrets in life- such as demotion in the
hoshitori banzuke due to that ill-judged rikishi selection. Well, sho ga
nai ne..
