  I don't think that this list is reflective of the age of the average
sumo fan, since most of us are probably foreigners.  It is well known,
I think, that foreigners who visit Japan often develop a taste for
sumo.  But you are right that most young Japanese think it is odd that
young foreigners like sumo.  I think they chalk it up to being a 'strange
foreigner', as the expression goes.  Young Japanese do not seem to like
sumo as much as foreigners do.
