Re: shikona
Hello all,
Getayukata is simply explained. The first time I saw a rikishi was in
Tokyo, on the subway. He was wearing a yukata, with geta for footwear.
To see this huge guy clip clopping along the platform to catch a train
made a big impression on me, and it started my interest in sumo.
When I joined the hoshitori contest for the first time I wanted a shikona
that made some sense in both English and Japanese, if possible, and which
had some link with sumo, so Getayukata was the result.
Pat (Getayukata) McKay - and for the record, the Pat stands for Patricia
not Patrick.
