Makunouchi Banzuke Page
Great database
Hello all,
That's a great page of Stewart, I've checked it today. Thanks a lot.
I thought about making such a database, too. But unfortunately I
can't be such up-to-date (I mean results). BUT: I have a list of
EVERY rikishi in sumo, well, it's quite incomplete. But I can publish their
shikona, birthplace, birthdate, heya, sumo entry (from Jonokuchi to
Makuuchi) as on Hatsu Basho.
This list doesn't include new rikishi entered on Hatsu Basho and
includes some rikishi retired in the recent half year.
What do you think, do you need it? :-)
And if once I'm writing, I'd like to ask something again. Nowadays
I deal with shikona.
It's clear to me that if a rikishi is promoted from Jonokuchi or Jonidan, he
usually changes his shikona (more exactly he chooses one instead of his
real name). But there are some rikishi who change a shikona to another in
upper divisions, too. Why is it?
And how are shikonas chosen? Does it depend on rikishi's wish only? How
does it work? Many thanks in advance.
With friendship,
Bandey
