New Sumo Site Coming - A Letter - A Bit Long!

Dear Sumo Friends,

Exactly a year has passed since I've got a big envelope from Japan. A
friend of mine had sent it. There was a magazine inside (since then,
I "decoded" it's title - Ozumo Tokusho). It was written in Japanese,
with many pictures of big burly fellows wearing only a belt around
their waists.

"What's this?". Of course, I heard earlier about "sumo", that it's a
kind of wrestling in Japan. But nothing more. At that time, this
magazine left me cold, although I was interested in Japanese topics.

Later, I saw Paris Koen on TV. "Wow, it's interesting!!!". Since I
could read hiragana and katakana (otherwise, I don't know Japanese -
still), I began spelling the names of rikishi. I learnt their Kanjis,
too.

This spring I got opportunity to roam about Internet. One of my first
queries was "sumo" given to AltaVista. And I've found a lot of
information, pictures and this list. Since I've been reading every
sumo information I can get, rikishi are not fighting fat men any
more, but sympathic personalities.

The world of Sumo is so unique and interesting! I feel sorry for
missing so many years. Unfortunately I have no more connection to
sumo events than the Net and a TV summary on the Eurosport channel
(quite short). I hope I'll read many interesting questions and
answers in this list. I myself will ask, too.

I build a sumo site in Hungarian language, perhaps there are some
more sumo fans here. I don't know IF I HAVE TO GOT ANY PERMISSION TO
DO IT. My sumo site will be BASED on Ken Coller's Sumo FAQ, but I
collected more information into one place, mainly from Abe-san's and
Totoro-san's publications. And I'll add many new pictures. (I mean I
didn't find them on the Web yet).

As far as I know there is still no Hungarian Sumo Site on the
Internet. Mine will be the first. I hope I can recruit new Hungarian
sumoniacs. My site is ready by 60-70%, I do it among my job, so I not
always have time to make it. I try to do my best, I'd like to make it
ready before Aki Basho starts.

Sorry for this long message. I wish for all sumoniacs all the bests.

Best regards,

Bandey
