Re: former Onaruto's book
A response by Sakaigawa Rijicho to Onaruto's acusation is in
the most recent issue (July issue) of Bungei-Shunju, the
most widely circulated monthly magazine in Japan, except manga.
I've read the first portion of his argument, but I was not
at all impressed. He basically said that he asked those rikishi
who were said to be involved fixed matches but none of them
said they did. At the same time, he said, even if there is a
match questionable, he can't tell if that particular match was
fixed or not, because without evidence or confession, you can't
tell for sure. Also, he practically said that Onaruto is a
failure and don't trust anything a failure said.
He said he also thought it was strange to have those two people
associated with this book died with the same causes at the same
hospital on the same day. He expected to have acusations for
the death of these people associated with Sumo Kyokai. He wanted
Onaruto to be alive at the time when Sumo Kyokai sued Shogakkan
and Weekly Post. Sueing them was their original plan even before
Onaruto's and Mr.Hashmoto's death, he said.
I feel sorry for him, since he does not and won't have any
evidence to prove his point. On the other hand, it will be
more difficult to have witnesses for Shogakkan to support their
article after their deaths. If that would be the case, Sumo
Kyokai would get a benefit of their deaths whether they were
involved in their death or not.
