Here and There
Hi to all the faithful out there. Faithful in that you're still on
the list, even after the "scandals" have come out in sumo. It's too
bad that stuff like this ends up in courts. Anyhow, things we don't
like exist everywhere, so why should sumo be so pure and untainted?
Since we don't know which bouts may or may not be fixed, they still
provides fun and entertainment.
News I've seen:
Musoyama hurt his lower back recently. The paper didn't say if it
would really affect him, as it happened last weekend apparently.
Word is that he needs 12 wins to make Ozeki, and Kaio would need
a big 13! They've both put in some quality degeiko against the
big Yokozuna Akebono, who, by the way, is in good shape and plans
on putting a dent in the Futagoyama string of yushos. Musashimaru
was described this morning as listless (genki no nai) and unless
he heats up should stay out of the race. Taka/Waka/Taka are all in
strong form, putting up a formidable barrier to the Ozeki hopes of
the 2 Sekiwake.
Nothing else new in the paper here. We don't get the greatest of
coverage in this part of the land. Gotta get a dish just to see if
Kimiko Date can snuff out Steffi tonight. Sigh...
Hoshitori:
Up to 46 entrants already, with 11 of them first-timers! The heavy
pile of entries should be here tomorrow, as people get over their
sunburn and hangovers from the holiday. Oddly enough, most of the
entries are starting to look an awful lot alike. Maybe we'll have
to change the game to make it more challenging.
Web Page Thoughts:
A couple of very kind folks have expressed interest in me keeping
up my sumo info. Probably by now most of the available info in it
is on other sites, so to make it useful it should have other kinds
of things. I'd actually planned to let it die a peaceful death, but
if you want me to keep it up, I will. I'd appreciate it, though, if
you would take a few minutes to review it again, and let me know
anything you think would be good to put in there. I have some small
photos of all the sekitori which I would scan and put in, and maybe
make an English page for Kirishima (with Lilianne's help!). I can
also fix it up to make it accessable to Lynx users and others with
text-only browsers. All ideas are welcome!
Yoroshiku,
Totoro
