Each unto their own I suppose! Personally, I am, and have always been a Muso
fan (since he left college anyway). Sure, it is exciting watching the
smaller, "lighter" rikishi fight, but to be fear, their techniques and
styles are reflective (to a large extent) of their size. Muso and Akebono
"grunt" b/c they have the size to do so, and this is the most efficient,
obvious style for them to adopt. I would argue that a rikishi can still be
exciting, even if he does "fight off the belt". One need only to appreciate
this method of sumo to find it thus IMO.
