Dear sumo archivists out there:
The banzuke list for the 1995 Aki Basho was announced yesterday. According to
the newspaper, Kotonishiki made it to komusubi (just barely, in my opinion.)
This marks the 22nd time he's occupied either sekiwake (15 times) or komusubi
(7 times), putting him 3rd, in a tie with Daikirin, on the all-time list in theShowa-era to the present.
So, who's No. 1 & No. 2? (Would Takamiyama, Kurama, Sakahoko be one of them?)
How do Akinoshima, Kirishima (notwithstanding his ozeki experience), Terao, andTochinowaka fare on the all-time list?
This should get your appetites whetted.
