On-line Sumo Simulation
I am sorry to be jumping into this so long. I went on vacation in July and
indeed the email piled to the system limits, not to mention tons of that snail
stuff. :-) It is as my wife so often complains--I have too many interests. Its
just as well that I missed 2/3 of the basho, 'cuz I couldn't have taken the
final day's "reversal of fortune' on the hoshitori anyway! But I am pleased
with a K+ after my dismal initiation!
To the point: some of you are working on a sumo simulation, so I thought you
might like to know about two I serendipitously aquired in a single issue of
Dragon Magazine (#157, May, 1990). One is by Stewart Wieck and the other by Len
Carpenter. They are not so sophisticated as what goes on in this list, but
provide a nice framework for starting, I think. Anyway, you can be the judge.
I am no math wizard, and these kinds of tasks give me a feeling of vertigo.
If anyone is interested, I could send a few copies out. Please email me and we
can arrange it. I would refer you to their own order line, but I think they are
out of business, as their 800 line no longer works.
The nice thing is that its in the format of the D&D simulations most familiar to
players. The work lies in making it more like the bashos.
