A history question

Does anyone know when Chiyonofuji made yokozuna?
 
I have a vivid memory of a bout in which he beat Kitanoumi on senshuraku ...
Kita pushes him to the edge while he reaches for the belt, then just at the
edge he finds the belt, yanks Kita off-balance, then pushes him all the way
across the dohyo and into the first row. The bout made a huge impression on
me: Kita was a wide, heavy guy and Chiyo at the time probably only weighed
115 k or so.
 
What is dim in my memory is when. I thought this was Nagoya, 1981 (when I
first arrived in Japan), and that Chiyo was made yokozuna right after the
basho. But there was a post during the last basho to the effect that Chiyo
was still Ozeki during Kyushu '82.
 
Perhaps our good "librarian," or someone with a long memory can help me out?
