Non-sumo related topics (non-sumo related)

Rather than just leave this behind I suggest we utilise the disagreement
and make something positive from it. As the original originator of this
sumo list in 1993 (initially posted as e-mail from my account to all
members), I have observed all manner of posts from this group and
therefore feel a comment is appropriate. This list is different things to
different people. The commonest denominator is sumo, however the next
must be computers, and the next quite often Japan. We have had non-sumo
related posts about the subway gassings, the Kobe earthquake, weddings,
computer viruses etc, as this list has sometimes been the quickest and
most resourceful for that info. Due to these commonalities of interest
amongst members this list can sometimes wander from the topic of sumo, but
I have found several to be of great use to myself. However even in the
directly sumo related posts there are some topics that I am not interested
in, and am able to decide not to read if an appropriately descriptive
header is given. As I'm sure not everybody, even those that are using the
net regularly, know all of the nuances of netiquette, may I suggest as
perhaps some guidelines of etiquette for this list:

1)check relevance/utility in sending post to this list

2)give descriptive header with sub-categories	-(results)
						-(commentary)
						-(non-sumo related)

3)post as briefly as possible, with minimal replication of others
posts (some pay by number and volume received)

4)try not to get personal or insulting (re-read before posting and
appropriate addition of smileys etc. so no misinterpretation)

5)use personal e-mail where possible before posting to whole list

Lastly maybe we need to check with Chris Basten if there can be any more
devolution of lists (results only; results & commentary etc.).

Sumo is, as sumo does,

Pete.
