Re elementary questions? (was Re: About the Virus Warning)

Marion:

As martial arts, Judo (Jujutsu) and Sumo are believed to share the
same origin in Japan. They have many similarities. Some of the techniques
are exactly same. At the same time, many rules are different.

Also, sumo has many similarities with Japanese performing arts, such
as Noh, Kyogen and Kabuki. Sumo settings are very similar to Noh-butai
with Hana-michi. Suri-ashi step, in principle, is the same. Banzuke is
the same as that of Bunraku, Japanese puppet theatre. Makunouchi and
Nakairi are the same as Kabuki. Shokkiri is very similar to Kyogen Theatre.
Dohyoiri is similar to Kaomise of Japaense Theatre.

Sumo is, in a sense, a cross between Japanese martial arts and traditional
Japanese performing arts.

In Edo period, rikishi were treated similarly with Kabuki acters. Even now,
rikishi are treated similarly with TV and movie stars.

Imagine, all the people living for today...no countries to kill or die for...
living life in peace...no possessions...sharing all the world...
You may say I am a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one. (John Lennon)
