About the Virus Warning
Dear Fellow Sumo-Enthusiasts:
I personally found Masumi's warning both appropriate and timely,
specially since at my university here we were just victimize by a virus
attack which was caught, fortunately, before it did really serious
damage. It is true that this is a Sumo forum, but one that travels
certain highways, if you will. To be warned that there are possibly
dangerous potholes in this information highway is a positive act of
friendship. Therefore, thank you Masumi, for this, as well as many other
services. On the other hand, if Shari could furnish me with the names
of fora devoted to computer viri, this would be very useful to myself
and my colleagues. I am sorry, but I must plead ignorance about such
groups.
Now, back to Sumo and I have a question that is so elementary
that most of you will probably laugh: is there any expository work
that describes what one might call the theoretical principles upon which
Sumo is based? For example, in the internal forms of gung fu, there are
a number of principles that form the basis of these martial arts. In
the case of Sumo it would be, I suppose, developping and maintaining
balance, positioning for throws, trips, etc, use of the fulcrum principle,
etc? But is this systematized and laid down somewhere?
With best regards,
Marion
