Re: Occupations (was Re: tsuki/oshi-zumo)
I just noticed my "typo" in my post about tsuri-rikishi. It seems I
wrote Myobudani's name wrong. It is MyObudani, instead of MyUbudani.
He was tall and muscular, almost unbelievably popular among foreigners
particularly women. He retired from sumo community entirely, because
martial arts are against his religious belief.
Other rare occupations by former rikishi are:
Former Sekiwake "submarine" Iwakaze is a "used goods recycler".
It is an occupation collecting used goods and turn them into useful
resources. It is an ecological occupation.
He was one of the most unusual rikishi in all time. He never dash at
tachiai. His tachiai was always two hands in front of his whole body
including his head. The lower his head, the better his sumo. When his
head is above opponent's sholder, he was like a fish out of water.
I don't think he ever lost by hatakikomi or tsukiotoshi.
He was extremely quiet person and did not talk too much in either
publicly or privately.
Former Yokozuna Wajima (also former Hanakago Oyakata) is a general
manager for an amateur football team in Japanese industrial league.
He won yusho 14 times, only behind three great yokozuna of Taiho,
Kitanoumi and Chiyonofuji.
The reason why he was kicked out of sumo community was because
he used oyakata-kabu as security for borrowing money for his private
business. Sumo Kyokai ended up to buy Hanakago-name back from the
"owner" of Hanakago-name and kicked out Hanakago Oyakata permanently
for this misconduct. All rikishi in Hanakago-beya moved into
Hanaregoma-beya.

Imagine, all the people living for today...no countries to kill or die for...
living life in peace...no possessions...sharing all the world...
You may say I am a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one. (John Lennon)
