Same-day tickets

Hi all,

All my grand plans to get close-in seats for the upcoming basho have
fallen through (zannen!).  I guess I will have to stand in line for
some same-day tickets.  Can anyone tell me how many I can buy?  I ahve
a couple friends who want to join me, and we are considering taking
turns getting there early on several days.  That is, I get there early
on day 1 and buy n tickets.  Friend A goes early on day 2 and buys n
tickets, etc.  Question is how many can I buy all by myself?  Also,
for a weekday on the first week, how early should I get there?  Any
advice appreciated.
