Sumo Connection in Hawaii, (Also Konishiki & Musashimaru)
Can someone give me directions on how to get to the Sumo Connection Shop in
Hawaii. I'll being going there soon on my "Company Holiday" (Shain-ryoko)
and I thought I'd pop in.
By the way, apologies to those not in Japan, there was an interesting
program on TV the other night, which I unfortunately didn't record, about
Konishiki & Musashimaru. Both of them were in the studio anwering questions
and there were various interviews with their parents and school friends and
friends in the local bars near their beyas.
The best part of the program was when they showed their Hatsu-kaoawase
(Hatsugao), that is first match in a real Basho. Both of them were so strong
that they launched their opponents out of the ring. Konishiki seemed just to
puff up his chest and the opponent bounced off him. Musashimaru gave his
opponent a great shove and the judge whom he landed on didn't look very amused.
Musashimaru was his usual quite self on TV, his mom *always* cries when they
interview her, (or is it always the same film??). Konishiki quite often
helped out Musashimaru translating the odd word for him. The program ended
up with a Hawaiian food tasting session, rated "mazuii" and Konishiki
singing, I presume, a traditional Hawaiian song playing the ukulele, with
Musashimaru looking bemused.
