I remember some basho back in 1993 when Konishiki was starting to go down the ranks (maybe he was still an ozeki but managed only to get 8:7 or so, can anybody check that?). I was very surprised when he beat Akebono who was already yokozuna at that time. But I think by now Konishiki is even weaker and Akebono is now too clever to be upset by him. On the other hand, who knows?
