I'm not quite sure how to interpret this but I think it's saying that
chatter, even related to sumo, is unwelcome because some of
you (or perhaps a silent majority?? who knows?) would simply
like a list of results from each basho.
If this is the case, I think that it's rather unfair to those who
actually take the time to give you what you want. Essentially,
you're saying, give us the results when we want them but
otherwise keep your mouth shut. If it weren't for the time and
efforts of those who are bothering you with such chatter, you'd
have nothing at all.
Those of us who post love sumo. That's why we make an effort to
post results. We love it so much that we like to talk about the
issues that surround it in addition to the tournament results. It's
not a lot of fun for people like Tito, Robert, Steve and David to
tap out results. The reward is in the responses. No one is getting
paid for what they do and it takes a lot of time (believe me, as
Tito's wife who sees him concentrate on each day's summaries
for about an hour or more, I know this). If the chatting about sumo
goes away (and since only about 5 messages were really off topic
recently, I have to assume that "volume" complaints are about
things like our gaijins in sumo topics and other related issues),
there's a good chance that some of the people making the effort to
bring you the information you desire will go away too.
