Kobe - one month after

Once again some personal impressions about Kobe.

In contrast to the rest of the world, it still dominates
the news here, but mostly "scooooop'-stuff. Don't know
why some people allow such kind of journalism here.
Also, some Bus-Tours are planned for people from 
e.g. Kanazawa to see the "most damaged zones".
Please queue up ...

During the last weeks, the civil engineers from Kobe
scrutinized the buildings in the damaged areas and 
allocated green (ok) , yellow (pending) and red (do not enter)
cards. Our building also got an (partial) yellow card
for the listing south wing and the elevator/stairs.
Thank God I'm in the 'penthouse'.

A lot of trouble is coming up, due to the
undiplomatic handling of the condolescence (sp?) money.
SOme districtys give it away almost without checking
and some only if you bring *all* the PAPERS ...

At present they demolish the JR/Hankyu station at
Sannomiya (among other buildings in that area)
there's so much dust in the air, it's difficult to breathe.

Residents in the strikken areas don't have to pay local
tax for the time being and KDD apparently wants to give
some special discount for this people as well. (There
are many other things like that going on)

The Gap between Kobe and Osaka is shrinking. Now
Hanshins goes as far as Mikage and JR links Sumiyoshi.
Hankyu still Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi  but partial inbetween as well.
