Some first/second Round matches:

Konishiki vs. Hamanoshima ---> Konishiki (yorikiri what else)
* powerful Konishiki

Mitoizumi vs. Kenko ---> Mitoizumi (yorikiri)
* Mito-style (Mito won against Wakashoyo in first round)

Kotonowaka vs. Dashi ---> Kotonowaka (yorikiri)

Daizen vs. Takanohana ---> Takanohana (yorikiri)
* Perfect sumo. Period.

Akinoshima vs. Mainoumi ---> Akinoshima (yorikiri)

//-------- Comments -------------------------------------------------------

Mitoizumi vs. Konishiki: Rare occasion (stablemates). Little henka from Mito
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Konishiki lost his balance but fought back.

Takanohana vs. Kotonowake: After some shitate-nage trials, Taka stepped out
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ almost inadvertantly (looked careless to me)

Mitoizumi vs. Kotonowaka: Coming in like bull, Mito gave Elvis a lift and
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^  it resulted in a mono-i

Naminohana vs.Takatoriki: Stablemates. Nami tried 'jikan mae' like always
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and made Taka nervous (false start). Apparently
                          they were serious.

Naminohana vs. Akebono: If you can't picture it by the kimarite (like me):
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^  Spinning around. (Transitive !!!)

Takanonami vs. Musashimaru: Maru dominant from the start.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Kaio vs. Tomonohana: Funny tachi-ai (Tomo): jump up -> trying to slap Kaio ->
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Kaio ducking -> Tomo makes a pirouette

Akinoshima vs. Musashimaru: Maru stepped out after loosing his balance at
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ at the tachi-ai (slight henka)

Akobono vs. Akinoshima: Long fight, worth a "real" basho. Akebono had Akinoshimas
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ head in a vice under his armpits (yummy ...)

//-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this helps, don't take it too serious, also the choice of words ;-)

Maybe somebody can fill us in: How serious do the rikishi take this
tournament ? What about 'inner-stable-fights' ?

Second day coming up ...
