I watched most of the sumo on TV Japan here in Sierra Vista, Arizona and I
heard that the family of Takatoriki, including his wife(???), were living in
the Osaka area. I do not remember hearing anything about the death of
Takatoriki's wife. My wife is Japanese and her mother was also visiting us
during the last basho and the sumo was watched every day and they did not hear
this either. Since Takitoriki is married to Yokozuna Taiho's daughter (thanks
to the info from Masumi-san) I am pretty sure there would have been an
anouncement made and that Takatoriki would have gone home. But then again you
never can tell.
