Raiden
Greetings, fellow Sumo dudes and babes,
I am currently working on an original comic book concern-
ing the adventures of a giant sumo wrestler rampaging through
Japan, circa 1790-1810. I have decided to name this monster
'Raiden', after the man sometimes referred to as the greatest
sumotori ever. I understand he lost only a couple of matches, and
those to the reigning yokozuna, yet he never acheived yokozuna
status due to political infighting. I hear he was an astonishing
consumer of sake, making today's lads look like yuppie light-
weights.
The hero of the story will not be the historic Raiden, but a
mediocre young sumo wrestler who crosses paths with an ambitious
young sorcerer's apprentice, who misreads a spell he has stolen
from his master, and, thinking he is creating a 'great' sumo
wrestler. creates a 'giant' sumo wrestler instead. Mortified, and
heartbroken by his forced separation from his normal-sized babe,
the youngster goes on a rampage, smashing castles and stuff until
another sorcerer creates another giant, and using Edo as a dohyo,
they compete to see who will be 'oyokozuna'.
Kinda like Godzilla without the scales.
If anyone knows about the historic Raiden, and the period in which he lived, I would be grateful for any such information.
Arigato,
