Sentoryu
Sentoryu is getting well known among Japanese sumo fans, these days. He was
featured in various sumo magazines and he also played in juryo with oicho
hair style for the very first time during Nagoya-basho. The match was
nationally televised and he won, if my memory is correct.
Although he recorded admiral 5-2 at Makushita W-4, there are just enough
numbers of good makushita rikishi for him to be promoted to Juryo next
basho.
The three 6-9 rikishi from the bottom of Juryo will be demoted to Makushita
for Aki-basho. They are J-W-12 Kotoryu, J-E-13 Genkai and J-W-13
Butetsuyama. In return, only three Makushita rikishi are allowed to be
promoted to Juryo.
Those three rikishi ahead of Sentoryu are:
W-1 Mutsuhokkai (Ajigawa-baya) 6-1 from Hokkaido
W-2 Wakahayato (Miyagino-beya) 5-2 from Kagoshima-ken, Kyushu
E-4 Tosanoumi (Isenoumi-beya) 5-2 from Kochi-ken, Shikoku
If Sentoryu have similar performance as Nagoya at Aki-basho in Tokyo with
5-2 record, I see him to be promoted to Juryo after Aki-basho in time to
show-off his brand new kesho-mawashi at Kyushu-basho in Fukuoka in
November.
