According to "The Channel 4 book of Sumo" by Lyall Watson (and other sources),
Asahifuji was the "Sea Slug".   Now "Sea Lion" may sound better, but I still
stick with "Sea Slug".  Back when he was fighting, at our sumo watching 
parties in and around Tokyo, you should've seen people screaming "Nail the
Sea Slug", etc.
