Re: Kosho (Koushou?)
Since Wakanohana played in June Sumo Tornament, I don't see any excuse for
him to sit out of Nagoya-basho. (Unless he found a new excuse in married
life.
If he has injured or re-injured after June Sumo Tornament, it should not be
a "koushou" (or ko-sho- with two long vowels).
I did not know the koushou rule only applied to one basho (which is
Haru-basho for Wakanohana). I think it is unreasonable to limit koushou to
only one basho. I think it should be until full recovery. Full recovery is
of course depends on the seriousness of each injury.
Since Sumo Kyokai own Sumo Shinryo-sho (or Sumo Clinic), the doctor of Sumo
Shinryo-sho could estimate how long that particular injury takes to heal
from objective stand point. This will eliminate some of one-sided matches.
I don't want to see sumo matches involving semi-sick rikishi with heavy
supporters and bandages around ancle(s), knee(s), elbow(s) and rist(s).
They should be treated well enough without worrying about loosing the rank,
so that when they are in the sumo match, they do not need to worry about
re-injuring.
